Do you mix colors together and get mud? Learn how to mix a wide variety of brilliant, rich & luscious colors in a few easy steps. Discover your own personal palette. This class is fun! It will take you through the basics of color mixing, warm tones, cool tones, and complimentary colors. Create your own color references, paint different color combinations with certain themes in mind and create your very own abstract painting using intuitive color mixing.

Crash course in Color Mixing

Meets: (3) Saturday Afternoons 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM (3-hour duration)
Dates: Oct. 5, 12, 19 in 2019
Location: TPS Art Center (2447 N. Los Altos, Tucson, Arizona 85705)

Instructor: Christy Olsen
Format: Demonstration, lecture, & one-on-one instruction provided during hands-on practice.
Level: All levels welcome! Ideal for absolute beginners with no experience as well as those with any previous experience, who would like to revisit or expand their knowledge on the topic.

Medium: Any painting is welcome, demonstrations will be performed in water-based oils, watercolor, opaque watercolor (gouache)
Technique: Color mixing as it applies to oils, acrylics, watercolor, opaque watercolor, or gouache

What's your mantra? Express your own unique word or mantra, using art journaling techniques in mixed media. Learn how to size them for a box or bind them together. The demonstration will include, creating monoprints with a gel plate to create backgrounds and texture, embossing for a faux wax finish, and using rust to create color and patterns. Add layers, borders, blend, and create a focal point for each journal page.

Mantras are instruments of the mind, used to concentrate, meditate, change habits or focus on a specific goal. It's is a powerful statement or slogan repeated frequently, which can be thought of as a seed to energize your intentions or used as inspiration to start the day.
